I recently came across Brazilian artist Angelica Dass’ Humane series which looks at using the classic Pantone Reference Library to identify variations of skin tone across a large cross section of people with the objective to record and catalog all possible human skin tones. I find this project fascinating as it looks at skin tone as a singular flat colour, something that many women use foundation to try and create yet there as so many elements of light and dark tones within the face to consider. This is something I am always aware of when creating any make up on shoot or for red carpet and will always blend custom colours to fit.
