This shoot is from the September issue of MFF Magazine shot by Manuela Pavesi with styling by Benoit Bethume and hair by Tomohiro Ohashi. The makeup was crude and overdrawn almost like theatrical stage makeup that is meant to be seen by a distant audience as Manuela was working on Polaroids that have a slow exposure and we shot a lot indoors with not much light. I wanted the makeup to be cinematic, visible and graphic as well as working with the big hair. For the base I simply used Dr Jackson Skin Cream 02 as I wanted to keep it quite raw and she had amazing skin. For the eyes I worked just with MAC Eye Kohl in Smolder and 4 sets on each eye of Shu Uemura False Eyelashes S217, I filled in the brows with strong strokes using the same pencil. The lips were natural with Creme de la Mer The Balm for hydration and for some shots I drew on a beauty mark also using the same pencil. This was one if those times where I travelled to a location with a huge heavy makeup only to use 4 products! We based the story of the shoot on a modern bourgeoise girl and I looked at cinematic greats such as Fellini for reference. It was a magical shoot with a wonderful team. The girl was the daughter of a friend of Manuela Pavesi and she had never modelled before and she was incredible she really acted the character and brought a fresh energy to the shoot that was elegant and invigorating.
