I wanted to capture something that had the spirit of the 1970s, a sultry night-time look that could take you from Studio 54 to a private afterparty. This kind of make-up is sophisticated but also very, very sexy. It’s definitely an elegant look you could wear with a beautiful Lanvin dress or with jeans and biker boots if you don’t want to feel too ‘done’. Basically, anything that makes you feel sexy. It’s a classic smoky eye, but with very fine glitter pressed on top to add some night-time glitz. You have to do the eyes first, before any base. Run black eyeliner pencil along the waterline, then close your eyes and you’ll get that transfer of liner onto the top and bottom inner rims of your eyes. Then brush brown and black eyeshadows through the crease and socket for depth, fading outwards towards the edges. For the glitter, you need to dab a cream in the centre of the eye so it has something to adhere to. You can also use eyelash glue if you’re worried about the glitter falling off. I then loaded up the lashes with lots of mascara. You will get some glitter dropping, but night-time make-up is about looking sexy, not pristine.
