This shoot is from the latest issue of Purple Magazine and is incredibly special as i was able to work with artist Marylin Minter to create a series of beauty images looking at texture and colour through the beautiful way in which she creates her images. To create an intimate setting we simply shot with myself, Marylin & our model Jamie Bochert . For the beauty I created multiple looks with a focus on colour that would show through the distorted image with references of men in music looking at images and album covers from the likes of Lou Reed & The New York Dolls. . To make sure Jamie’s skin was looked after throughout the day I thoroughly prepped with a massage using Rodin Olio Lusso and sealing in moisture with Balance Me Moisture Rich Face Cream.
For Looks 1 & 2 I created a flawless base using Givenchy Photo Perfexion Fluid Foundation buffed into the skin with a soft brush for a seamless finish. For the eyes I wanted depth & irridescence so I first used Make Up Forever Aqua Cream in Emerald before going over with Topshop Chameleon Glow in U-Turn and then layering on Clinique High Impact Black Mascara. For the true red lip I used MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo.
For Look 3 I hydrated skin first with Sisley Confort Extreme Body Cream and then looked at more abstract colour across the eyes and cheekbones so first worked with purple, white, gold & pink from the Make Up Forever 12 Flash Colour Case before adding irridescence with MAC Pigment in Kitchmas. For the cold toned lilac lip I used Kevyn Aucoin Dantrice Expert Lipstick.
For Look 4 I skipped base and just moisturised with Dr Jackson 01 Skin Cream and concealed where needed with YSL Touche Eclat before buffing in Illamasqua Liquid Metal Cream in Surge across the eyelid and then adding highlights of Makeup Forever Olive Gold Metal Powder Eyeshadow. I wasn’t too precious about fall out from product as like the way it coats the tips of the eyelashes and falls slightly underneath.
For Look 5 it was all about a perfect, soft natural lip so I exfoliated first with a soft toothbrush and Creme de la Mer The Lip Balm before applying Paul & Joe Beaute Mon Mimi Lipstick and then blotting with a tissue.
For Look 6 I first created a dark smoky eye using RMK Ingenious Powder Eyes in No. 2 and then layering Diorshow Mascara in Black onto curled eyelashes. After cleaning any fall out I applied a light base of Lancome Hydra Zen Tinted moisturiser and then buffed Tom Ford Cheek Colour in Wicked onto cheeks keeping it quite high. For a surreal highlight on cheekbones I used MAC Pigment in Pink Opal.
For Look 7 the lip was the main focus so I used Shiseido Sheer & Perfect Foundation to create an even base and then warmed up the cheeks slightly with Nars Matte Multiple in Laos. For the high impact glitter lip I used Lipstick Queen Red Metal Lipstick and then pressed on MAC Red Glitter.
