This shoot was part of a special project I worked on with architectural art collective ÅYR as part of the Frieze London. For the installation I worked with ÅYR to curate a series of at home beauty treatments and then examined them with this editorial shoot shot by Phillipe Jarrigeon featuring Ruth Bell, styling by Azza Yousif, hair Raphael Salley and nails by Michelle Class. For the first image I was looking at the peel off masks like Jorgobe which rejuvenate the skin and remove dirt and impurities from pores, a lot of the masks are clear or neutral colours but I wanted neon instead to sit with the other colours in the story. The second image was the Baby Quasar Plus which uses light therapy to improve collagen production and increase elasticity in the skin for a youthful appearance. I loved how sci fi this little gadget was so I pared it with an old gold lip using Illamasqua Liquid Metal in Electrum. The third image was this incredible 24K gold collagen mask from Jamela Skincare which hydrates and plumps up the skin, I loved how it sits on the skin like a real mask, hiding the features. The fourth image was a Sauna Mask I got from Japan (where else) which I paired with customized 7 Lash strips from MAC Cosmetics clumped together with layers of MAC Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash Mascara. The fifth image was the Japanese Mouth Slimmer, designed to be placed in the mouth and then exercised as you go through your vowels to give sagging skin a “much needed daily lift”. This mimics the obsession at the moment with huge blow up lips so I painted on a false lash look using YSL Shocking False Lash Effect Eyeliner in Shocking Ink. The sixth image is my Japanese Face Roller designed to tone up and massage the muscles of the face, to emphasise the rolling back I gave Ruth a cat eye liner on one side only with an emphasised brow using NARS Kohliner in Minorque. The seventh image was all about gel nails, whenever I can I get a gel manicure as it just lasts so much longer especially when my hands are covered in glitter and anti bac gel, I am obsessed with the little clips you have to wear when they remove it so I wanted to make sure they were included. To sit with the colour palette I did a dual toned glossy eye using KIKO Cream Crush Lasting Colour Eyeshadow in Pearly Apricot and Pearly Turquoise with Dr Paw Paw over the top for shine. Finally the last image was the Illumask. This little baby helps treat acne and problem skin using LED light therapy. I just like how it makes you look like a total android bad ass.
