All this rain and grey skies are getting me down. I need to see colour. Here is a cheery shoot (top 4 photos) from a while back that I did makeup for inspired by Holi the Hindu Spring festival of colour that recently happened (bottom 4 photos) March 8th. One day I will make it to India to see this in all its technicolour glory. I shot this beauty story with a photographer called Tony Kim for Tank and the hair was by Ramona Eschbach This was hands down the messiest shoot that I have ever been on and in fact the studio was pretty messed up afterwards. We even made homemade pigment rockets to set off. It was insane and I just went with it. The colours are a mix of pigments from MAC, Fardel, Ben Nye and gorgeous pigments that I found in Indian shops in East & South London and poster paints from art shops. Oscar Wilde once said “Mere colour, unspoiled by meaning and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways” I agree with him.
