This shoot is from the September issue of Vogue Paris and features the beautiful Carla Bruni shot by Alasdair McLellan, styling by Suzanne Koller and hair by Odile Gilbert. Carla has the most exquisite face so I kept the makeup cinematic and classic with smokey brown shadow around the eyes and the perfect nude lip. Firstly I prepped the skin with Weleda Skin Food to hydrate and used Estee Lauder Stress Relief Eye Mask to brighten and soothe around the eyes. To create a light base I buffed Chanel Aqua Vitalumiere into the skin, blending seamlessly with a small amount of Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer where needed and with YSL Touche Eclat under the eyes. To create the smokey shape around the eye I worked with Tom Ford’s Eye Colour Quad in Cocoa Mirage using the middle shade all over with the darker shades in the crease and along the lash line to contour and define. A couple of MAC Individual 30 Lashes placed in the middle of the lash line and at the outer corners created that fluttery, feline look layered with MAC Haute & Naughty Mascara. For a warmer contour under the cheekbones I used MAC Pro Sculpting Cream in Coffee Walnut and then highlighted with Ilia Illuminator in Polka Dots & Moonbeams for that lit from within glow. A light dusting of By Terry Hylauronic Loose Powder in the tzone kept shine at bay without feeling too heavy. Finally for the perfect nude lip I used Serge Luten’s Lip Pencil, blotted off and then patted Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour in Peche in the centre of the mouth.
