As Summer approaches we think more about what we eat, perhaps so we look & feel good on the beach, we question where food comes from & whether it is fresh, local & seasonal. It makes sense to think about what is in our beauty products & ask how good are they for us? Until recently I would buy the trashiest products because I liked the colour/smell/texture/packaging without a second thought about what it did to me & I certainly didn’t care to look out for potentially dangerous ingredients. Now I am older & trying to be wiser, so these days I look out for organic/natural skin care/hair care & makeup where possible not only for me but I feel a responsibility to my clients even though I always mix & match between organic, luxury brands & reputable high street/pharmacy brands. I look for high grade ingredients in every product. Click the link for a a list of dangerous ingredients to look out for and for a toxic synthetic ingredient dictionary. The image above was from a Vogue shoot (photographer David Dunan, Stylist Natalie Brewster and Hair by Stephen Low) that we shot in Turkey in The Black Mountains. We were in a stunning field filled with wild flowers that now reminds me of Edward & Bella in the meadow scene! I spent time massaging the model’s skin & kept the makeup natural & minimal. Click the links for my favourite organic beauty online sites Naturisimo, Green People, Love Lula, So Organic & amarya. I understand that all the products/brands/sites on this post are anti animal testing have strict morals & ethics that they adhere to. Click this peta link for a petition to protect the EU ban on animal testing to the european commissioner, read & sign if this is a cause that matters to you. Now back to the light frothy beauty talk! Here are some of my current favourite products: I use Ren jojoba bead facial polish for a fresh complexion as I love the feeling of a super clean face. I adore Aesop’s eye serum which I bought today, this product really is great & my top tip is keep it in the fridge for an extra cooling sensation. Try Lavera tinted moisturiser which is sheer & covers blemishes at the same time. I just use my fingers to apply all over the face & blend between jaw & neck. I like colorganics lip tints & suggest you wear the shade Love on balmy Summer nights also try sporting Butter nail polish in Jaffa which is the season’s hottest orange shade which will be a fun clash with the lip. I suggest Evolve Balance & Protect Detangler which I use after shampooing & sometimes I leave it in overnight & use as a treatment. Do you know about Inner Me Beautify Capsules ? Read about them & pretend to go all Valley of The Dolls go on make Jacqueline Susann proud & pop a pill, just make sure it’s a vitamin pill.
