Mascara is a personal thing. Some people like a comb, some like it small and rubberized, some even like it to vibrate (awkward if kept in a hand bag and prone to go off in public). But I just like a classic bristle brush, fat for the top lashes and smaller for the lower ones and although I dismiss a lot of these new inventions there is still a a large range of choice for someone who likes a classic. MAC’s Haute & Naughty has been a favourite in my kit for a while purely because you get 2 for 1, a loaded big black brush for thick defined lashes or unscrew further up for more product removal and therefore a finer brush that can be layered up or kept more natural. MAC’s Extended Play Gigablack Lash is also worth a mention here as the tiny little brush can get even the finest lashes. Estee Lauder have got a great range, their Magnascopic brush is tapered so you can get into the inner & outer corners and the Sumptuous Extreme Waterproof Mascara really does stay put when exposed to a shower. The brown colour is perfect for blondes on the beach as is Clinique’s High Impact Waterproof Mascara in Brown. For those who love a really fluttery lash, try Guerlain’s Cils D’Enfer Maxi Lash Mascara (strangely this also smells incredible) or for a really loaded up black lash Diorshow Blackout Mascara. Or if you change your mind often on the style of your lashes try Eyeko’s Mascara Wardrobe which gives you a variety of brush choices to use with their classic formula which is great for not dropping or flaking even in the heat. The best range I’ve come across for coloured mascaras especially in a waterproof formula is YSL Waterproof Luxurious Mascara, the Majorelle Blue and Vibrant Violet are seriously bright and deliver a hit of colour. Or if you’re feeling a bit more demure you can try the YSL Shocking Volume range which are primarily black with a hint of colour, try Jade Black for green eyes, Sea Black for blue eyes and Cherry Black for brown.
