Oils have been used for beauty and health purposes for years but now I find myself using them more than ever on shoots and shows to prep a models skin with a relaxing facial or to add shine on cheekbones and create glossy long limbs. There are also now about a zillion to choose from so I’m rounding up some of my favourites. A facial oil I use time and time again has to be Nuxe Huile Prodigeuse which smells amazing and is really nourishing, all the models love it. Warm some in your hands and then spend a good 5 to 10 minutes massaging your face working upwards and outwards for a real glow to boost circulation. I also love Balance Me Radiance Face Oil, MV Organics Instant Revival Booster, African Botanics Pure Marula Oil and Simply Divine Botanicals Melon Medley Beauty Oil as all are organic and full of natural goodness. Decleor’s Aromessence Neroli Face Oil and Darphin’s Essential Oil Elixirs are also packed full of incredible essential oils to boost your mood or totally relax you as is Aromatherapy Associate’s Bath & Shower Oils. Another recent favourite is Rodin Olio Lusso for a truly luxurious feel (they also do a hair oil for when your ends are feeling a bit parched). If you do want to be really organic though head to Planet Organic and pick up raw coconut oil which can be used on your face, body or hair and is full of nourishing proteins, it’s great with a bit of sugar mixed in for an in shower body scrub. Whilst your there pick up Cleanmarine Krill Oil to work from the inside out. I’ve also found for models who have incredibly sensitive skin but still enjoy an oil facial I use a high quality extra virgin Olive Oil as it contains absolutely no additional scent or additives. When it comes to taking off your face at night an oil cleanser can work wonders even if you have oily skin, Laura Mercier’s Purifying Oil Cleanser, MAC’s Cleanse Off Oil and Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil all get rid of even the most stubborn waterproof mascara but then rinse off without leaving a residue. I often use good old fashioned baby oil when on set to add a shine to the body but if I want something more high tech whilst moisturising I use This Works Skin Deep Dry Leg Oil or Balance Me Super Toning Body Oil. Glowing results every time.
