Last year for Valentine’s Day I dressed up for my significant other as Jessica Rabbit, complete with false lashes and glossy red lips. Needless to say the whole look went down a treat however both bedsheets and myself looked like a massacre afterward with lipstick smears all over. I’ve only recently bought a brand new set of Egyptian Cotton, how do I create a red hot look and keep my sheets pristine?

Firstly, if the look has gone down well one wouldn’t image the sheets to be pristine however that is another subject. Take your inspiration this year from Hollywood siren Brigitte Bardot and you can skip on the red lipstick for a seductive nude. Use a nude lip pencil to match your lip tone such as MAC Lip Pencil in Etcetera or Kevyn Aucoin The Flesh Tone Lip Pencil and slightly overdraw your lip line to a more rounded shape before filling in the rest of the lip. Apply lip balm and blot with a tissue, for added depth pat a nude, creamy lipstick such as Tom Ford Jasmine Rouge Lip Colour in Vanilla Suede or Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lipstick in Vanilla Truffle just in the centre. Lashings of mascara (make it waterproof if you are very concerned) such as YSL Waterproof Luxurious Mascara in Charcoal Black to super curled lashes will finish this off. Ruffle up your hair and you’re good to go. If however you are insistent on a red lip then I have a simple solution for you; wrap the bed in clingfilm and the world is your oyster.
