This shoot is from the latest issue of Under The Influence and was shot by Blommers & Schumm featuring amazing Dutch models Anine Van Velzen and Irene Hiemstra with styling by Vanessa Coyle, hair by Hester Wernert-Rijn & nails by Ewa Kotlinska. For this shoot I was looking at the identity of women and the relationship with makeup, how it has the ability to transform the face and create a character with a cinematic feel throughout. For the cover I started with a clean, blank face using products from MAC Cosmetics to enhance Anine’s natural beauty. Skin was hydrated with MAC Lightful Essence and then just MAC Fast Reponse Eye Cream under the eyes to reduce any puffiness and MAC Lip Conditioner to hydrate the lips. For the first transformation with Anine I then used Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy Eyeshadow Palette in Defiant Nude across the eyelids working with all tones for a matte, sculpted look and then added layers of MAC Haute & naughty Mascara to give lashes defintion & drama. Brows were slightly filled in to give added shape and cheeks contoured with Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate. For the defined nude lip I used NARS Lip Liner in Fantasia for a soft matte finish. For the final aspect of the transformation I defined the socket with MAC Eye Pencil in Coffee and then Anine applied her own lipstick using Tom Ford Lip Colour Matte in Black Dahlia. For Irene’s first look I created a classic cinematic beauty of a red lip using Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lip Colour in La Malicieuse and a rough, sketched black liner with MAC Eye Pencil in Smolder. For a flawless but clean base I concealed any areas with Cle de Peau Concealer and then a dusting of Shiseido Translucent Loose Powder in the tzone. Lashes were defined with YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara. For Irene’s next look I created a graphic liner for a classic cinematic mirror image using Diorshow Art Pen Eyeliner giving the tip a slightly blunt finish for a modern look. With the duo shot of Anine & Irene both eye shapes were graphic but in different elements to give each girl a unique look. For Irene I used Laura Mercier Creme Eyeliner in Noir for the dual liner and concealed where needed with Shiseido Perfecting Stick Concealer. To create Anine’s smoky eye I used Dior 3 Coleurs Smoky in Smoky Black before layering Guerlain Cils D’Enfer Maxi Lash Mascara onto lashes. For Anine’s final look I created a dramatic feather eye using MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack and then worked Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Rose onto cheeks and lips for a tonal finish.
