It is a point of shame that there are young girls and women in the UK who regularly cannot afford sanitary products so hallelujah Scotland have stepped up with a pilot scheme to try and address the problem. Having your period is not a choice and therefore products should never be considered a luxury especially when the reason a majority of women are unable to afford these products is due to welfare reform. This image from Rupi Kaur’s Period series illustrates how periods are a regular part of women’s lives and not something to be ashamed about or try to pretend it’s not happening. Let’s hope other parts of the UK follow suit.
